Teacher Training
Not Too Young to Learn
A full-day workshop held in October of odd years to empower early childhood educators, administrators, and parents to provide high-quality learning experiences that nurture holistic development. Activities include Circle Time, teaching studios, keynotes, workshops, games, and more!

Early Childhood eXchanges (ECx)
The Early Childhood eXchanges provides a forum for teachers to exchange best practices for nurturing holistic development in the early years. Shorter than the Not Too Young to Learn workshop and focused on a specific theme, the Early Childhood eXchanges combine keynotes and workshops with Exchanges, which are opportunities for teachers to talk in small groups about teaching strategies that have worked in their classroom or school. Early Childhood eXchanges hold in January, March, and May every year.
Strong Start
Strong Start prepares early childhood educators to give learners a strong start through foundational principles of Early Childhood Education. Held on four Saturdays in September in even years, educators participate in courses on child development; developmentally appropriate learning activities; classroom management; learning materials; planning; and teaching language and literacy, mathematics, and science.
Professional Credential in Early Childhood Education
The purpose of this program is to provide in-service professional development for early childhood educators who want to learn more about providing high quality education for young children. This one-year hybrid program with both online and in-person learning experiences provides 140 hours of learning with the same course topics as Strong Start (though with more in-depth coverage), as well as nurturing holistic development, assessment in ECE, philosophy of education, and microteaching exercises.
Literacy Cooperatives
A professional learning community that receives qualitative training to enhance pupils’ reading skills through read-aloud techniques and share culturally relevant reading materials. These teachers meet for ninety (90) minutes every two weeks for two academic sessions, totaling eighteen (18) hours of qualitative training.
Kauna
Kauna is a professional development program aimed to help teachers develop character strengths related to effective teaching. In the early years, a warm and supportive teacher-pupil relationship can be more impactful on learning and development than teaching methods. The goal of Kauna is to help early childhood educators improve their teacher-pupil relationships, thereby enhancing pupils’ learning, development, and achievement. Learn more about Kauna here.
Learning Activity Videos
One of the core values of Early Years Nigeria Initiative is Joyful Learning. However, it can be challenging for a teacher to know how to plan joyful learning activities. We have created short videos demonstrating joyful learning activities that promote language, reading, writing, and mathematics skills. Visit our Youtube channel for more Learning Activity videos.
